I just did a view of the raw data that is presented from the mysql database and it is just one big long file.
Put on the 3rd batch of beer yesterday, sunday and used the same yeast which now seems working fine.
1st batch is very good beer, a little like malt liquor. And very strong, so by reusing the yeast we are saving 9 bucks or so. i want to make about 40 cases of beer for the year.
Beer fight with Susan last nite. She threw a glass of beer at me after I told her to share it with me as it was last and only cold beer in the fridge. And that she should have put more beer in the fridge. My beer and that is the case.
I have heard so much bitching about making the beer, about the smell, the mess and how it is my hobby and that she cannot do her art etc. So I drank 4 beer then visited Hugo who is pretty well set up. 3 AM and cannot sleep so I want to bottle the beer tomorrow and move it all over to Oakhill. I am not making beer with Ericka as she will drink it all. Bad fight with Susan and kids crying and me thinking what a hell I am in. Not too happy now and want to move away definitely.
I have 2 carboys of beer and am using the same yeast now for this last batch and only one can of malt so the cost is down a little. I would like to make about40 cases for the year and stash them. Maybe do 2 carboys at once.
They don't seem to understand that if I drink one of their beers it is a big deal but I am supposed to cough up free beer for them and take the constant bitching. What kind of life is that?
If I make beer and see other people drink it then I will drink more so I cannot share my beer I guess. I make bread, porridge and lots of soups etc and what does Ericka make? She eats with us and contributes little. And she owes me money for the chainsaw 20.00 and tractor rental and transportation.25 plus half of how many hours of work.
I owe Susan 60 fom my mum, and 100 in extra rent fromOakhill.
Oh yeah Jason called from a recovery center in chicago to apologize which I guess is part of his program.
I am going to get my posters framed. Can I do that myself?

Happy Robbie Burns day. And Ada's birthday. I am up early a 5 .30 every morning now - I am old. I slept with S now as Mary is out here and that is the problem as Beck needs his own room and S likes the radio on all nite and i like it on all day.
I was prepared to leave and she wanted me to leave after the beer battle but though I had thought it good I couldn't bear to leave the happy bosum of our little family and so i am in more entanglements than ever but we are slowing working it out. Now I have no pride, nothing but desire to get along yet after the major battle which has been stewing for some time, it was a good release. I have little sex drive now either and that made me feel impervious to needing her, but on the precipe I had to back down and remember why I liked her and what we have together -children and her. Oh well back to the website which is window dressing now.ueryueryuery6019uery
October 11 and I just bottled 24 liters of blueberry wine which is very strong and dry but a little light on the body. I should have used more berries so that is a good thing to know next time. I want to make more wine now and wonder where I can get cheap fruit to try it with.

2009 Beer Started

Made 15 gallons of Sierra Nevada for about 85 dollars. I am using the big stainless cauldron to do the initial brew and will use the tap at the bottom to fill the 3 carboys., all equipment and operatios are moved to Oakhill basement. I even bought a turkey roaster - 22 quart boiler with propane heater etc which costs 64 plus 50 for tank of propane but I feel I am set up right now and can do it all properly. I have 5 gallons of blueberry wine bottled and resting awasy to get ripe. It is very dry and strong as I used champagne yeast which can get up to 15% apparently so that is pretty good.
I want to make some hard cider too. And another batch of beer.
I had to put the heater on to get the beer up to 75 degrees which will put the yeast to work.
All my earlier beer is gone and next I want to make a IPA with lots of hops. |

The barley soaked for 4 days and now I have it spread out hopefully to begin its sprouting stage at which in 10 days I can then provide the heating stage and then make fresh beer! |

Well now all I need is to get the font a little bigger as this is too small.
But the text is right as I I want is simple text in paragraphs or snippet that I can then pull together as xml bits and pieces with the other tags as headings such as category and topic and that will be great as I can then just create random thoughts that can be pulled together or grouped at run time.i am such a geek now but Flex rules.
I found that advanced grid contorls are not partof sdk but can be built if you get the open source version which you have to build which I might to but just for work which could enhnace the datagrid.what aboutr spellcheck.Hellwho carees??

I went to see an orthepedic doctor at River City on west of south of the Loop.I walked. It was sunny and cold and took me about 20 mintues but spent over 3 hours there.
So I dont';t have to have hip surgery but do not NASIDs to take down the inflammation as she thought it was a referral pain, not a direct pain as it poked around and the pain got no worse.
She is putting me on some physical therapy as well.
So I didn't work out much but spent time in the pool and sauna.
Received the svideo cable and it works famously. Snap film shows up great on the little tv and except for the initial setup it is fine.
I rather like my new diary setup.
But I noticed that it didn't really work at Rush hospital. I guess if the system admin doesn't allow flash then my work will be to no avail so I must have an alterantive route to flash on my website.
I am battling with the intricacies of flex now and cubes as I think that is a cool way to protray information in graphical way. Each side of the cube showing a different aspect of the company. i see it bouncing in like the borg cube. Firing off attacks of information. |

So we need to discuss a real settlement as the one that Nardine crafted was putting me in the poor house and gave me no incentive for living plus didn't take into account my new family.
I think now she is in great shape - on UI, then they pay for school and even a lawyer to fight me.
Whether we divide the property or not at the river is the key issue and John Telfer had some good ideas about that! |

Mitch informally reviewed my code and I have to put all my cdata code into one area and consolidate the functions. So I need some best coding practices and I really dont have a handle on programming yet. Again I am off to the races with getting something done without understnding the basics but I am achieving a goal of mine to connect to a dtabase and that is very nice indeed.

So i have this working now with update but that causes another problem - how to keep null statements out and also it overwrites so I need to append.
There was a good example which I have of 3 or 4 sql statements and now also I want to have it as seperate states.

So I am trying icollection but it is not working and I am discouraged a bit becauses the more I develope this the morning complicated it becomes and making it usable for a customer would be a real pain but I guess if they were paying for it it would be ok.
Also how am I going to integrate this 'addreply.swf' file to it. I need that original example that was wacked out really. and also I need to define what i really want to do.
What would be nice are the following:
1. spell check
2. working offline and saving it automatically, then uploading it and synchronizing whenever it is online.
3. better interface and cleaned up quite a bit
4. working on the dataprovider stuff to make it snyced up. |

Very impressed with the css styler that can do a lot with css that you either paste in or can just reference. This is really useful. and I like the way you can visually design, move things around and the coding is colored coded which is very helpful.
I can't see the Console build and it defaults to making an HTML page which is fine but in all I am very happy with it indeed. |

Now that I have this working - that is connecting to the mysql database, its on to phase 2 which is running my store from there using flex. This is ambitios and I may do it phases. But this will eliminate al lot of the failures and shortcomings of the yahoo store and make me portable to other systems and it will be open source for sure.
I will try to keep the shopping cart system and use flex only for the display but again I will havve parrell stores for awhile as not 100 percent of the users have or like flash based systems but I think if done righ they will not even know about it. |

Charlie told me to reduce the number of buttons and I have added an Alert and moved one ubtton up but cannot remove them all as they are used by the original script which I have not had time to move but it seems to work fine and now all I need is to get some more regualer little scripts in there to do more inserts and read by select x from table where value = something which would be nice if it were dynamic and drop down. |

So I walked past the Fairhaven church to see some landlocked land that is between the tracks and interstate 94.might be about 4-6 acres.There might be access off Waverly road but it is off the main track so we would need a right of way across it but there are quads there and how culd you ever grow something without them running over it? No there is not much to do there.
I am wondering about how you can keep the paragraphs when it is queried from the database. |

I am modeling my data and will send it to Chas today to see how it looks. I see more need to have a parallel with the mysql and yahoo store for the credit card and also the fact that there needs to be an alternative to the flash incase the customer doesn't want the flash or cannot view the stuff with it. That is a major requirement though eventually I can see that the data once in mysql will be available via different means throught HTML.
How much of this time has been burned on HTML. I am crazed with it since I became involved in it back in Nortel in 1995 and where has it gotten me in the dreams of writing a great novel. How absurd it really is and now I can finally utilize a db like I always wanted.
On svideo is very cool did I menation that and the web site is very good too. |

I am getting so many projects in my workspace that I need to keep a running tab on them. So I am keeping notes on them in the directory but will try to add them here as follows:
These files in icollection show how to use the collection lists and I think this has great potential for my webstore as I can use this as intermideriary for updating and deleting the mysql db I hope.
xlistx.swf is like the other icollect.swf simple examples from http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/3/html/help.html?content=about_dataproviders_5.html
but I can see right away with a little tinkering how I can use the list on the right to then update or insert to database the content and I can do some type of custom form validation.

Well now it is connected but if I add several swfs to one they dont seem much bigger so it is on to states as someone complained about how big flexfiles are but they carry with them the framework and more can be done - it is like docking with the mothership! |

Thanks to Jesse who brought over a boil pot and some bags my beer is now made. Just waiting to pitch the yeast as the water is very hot still.
My only things to change is to not have the water so hot so I can get the yeast working. |

I cooked up a wort of Goose Island Beer, 15 gallons and it has now finished primary fermentation and tastes very good. I hope to put into carboys today or tomorrow. I added lots of sugar so it should be strong and there is no sweetness in the taste now.
I had some issues with boilover but I kept to the recipe except for extra malt. I think using 4 cans of pale malt is acceptable as the last beer is too malty but it it just got bottled so we will see about that too.
so I have a lot of beer on the go and i want to make one more batch before xmas which will be the IPA which I haven't got a receipe for.
The setup in the basement is very good.Easy to clean though I tried too much last time. I need to get the brew down to maybe 10 gallons but hey why not go for gold.
Ok off to see about a job and an interview and i am wearing a tie so you can see the importance of it. |

Larry moved in last nite which is December 12 at $350 per month so that is 20 days at $11.29 per day (=349.) so he or Ericka owes me on Monday225.80 and I said I would give Susan 75.00 per month subletting fee so that is about 50.00.
He is staying until Jan 23 when Ericaks house next door comes available as she is kicking out her tenants which really just moved in. What a mess.
so I can use the money for sure.
I am mad at Susan as usual. All bitching and fighting and she is hiding in her ipod and listens to the radio all nite long. Getting into one her moods. |

So Larry is moved in and I wasn't back much this weekend but I am thinking of hiring Jason the polish cleaner.
Troubles with Jason - Nick phoned and asked me if jason could stay which he did without talking to me or asking me and so when I found him there tonight he was sleeping, smoky house etc and arguing about getting DYI and him an AA member so it is bugging me but I got a hundred dollars but I told him to get out etc. no free living etc.
So maybe I should charge less rent for the two of them but I am pissed at having to deal with the trouble and the stink of smoke plus I went in and found 2 lights on in the middle of the day and nobody home.
So either Nick snowed me or Jason is snowing me but the thing is I am in the middle for trying to help Nick out whose daughter moved in with him and he wanted Jason out of there.
Well i guess it is only for a short time but it is irritating. I could never be a landloard.l
So I got paid 250.00 from Larry and 100 from Jason who got DUI on thursday, 1 day before Nick called me so I feel a little snow job. But maybe he couldn't keep himself straight with Jasonon a benso der and Jason was very argumentive so it boes not well.
But I got some money so things are a bit bearable. |

This is working very nicely now and I am happy with it. I have the irritating top bar removed, extra panel for the update and annoying screen gone. It could take some more refinement in presentation but the functionality is there and I have a working interface to a relation database which I control. Does it get better than that.
It is better to me than any blog software and I haven't even really began to utilize the skins or other cool features of this stuff.
Still to do

1. add spellcheck but it reall increases the size of the file.
2. put a reset or clear button which could work from the send button and automatically remove contents for next reply or comment.
3. do an append feature instead of merely update so theroritically it would be the addtition of more replys to the original post or thought as I call it.
4. eventually I want to have a sort of drop list of canned searches or wildcard searches for stuff in the database.
5. maybe a deletd form for an admin
6. A login form which should be pretty simple |

Cutting my teeth on Flexbuilder and there is a cost - I think the files are bigger- yes they are so I wonder why. Glad that I learned the SDK open source first, so the benefits are of course the data manipulations such as advanced datagrid, charting and color coded coding and ability to build regular actionscripts.
I still want to learn AS and keep hitting hurdles as I go along due to my basic lack of programming skills yet I can add and tinker with components and get this far.
Susan is mad at me for using the laptop so much as she is into the Ipod downloads which look good so I am going to try them as well as the library. |

So I have it running now in Flexbuilder after a frustrating morning and evening with little time to play and it is not so important except that I want to be able to run the examples from Monsiuer Moock which means I do not need my work laptop longer as I can do all my stuff from this machine - including work and business functions.
So this is very good and I am starting to understand the environment that they have set up - and am impressed. Flash has grown greatly and with this I don not see any end in place. I noticed a lot of tv adds are actually using this technology or Adobe stuff so Picasso would be using this sttuff now wouldn't he?

Early Friday morning and I think I will work from home today. Had a nice day off yesterday. So here is what I am doing today:

2. working out the details of the database for review with Charlie

5. trying some of Moocks examples in my new IDE

Well I did get the advanced datagrid working for my bcbs job and that is exciting. I had to use the grouping function for a flat file. It is amazing how when you read the documentation that you can actually do this stuff fairly easily. There are a few problems such as the read more is always shown up becuase it is not null but still it is working.
Now I need to get the new one up here and maybe I can use the datagrid for there too. yeah why not as it is merely a new version. Cool |

Got my example working except for the item renderer part which is not working well it sort of does but the whole column is displayed and only works if you have an item in the tree.
Sot I have afternoon t myself. Yippie!!!
There is an error passage about parameter must be non-null from item renderer which is the problem and I thought I could do it like the other one but it wont do it but still it is the flat data that I am grouping. That is exciting really I mean it. |

So it wont work for my database select as it wont read the datalist that is an icollection or sorts.
My idea is to get Mitch to help me with the parameter not- null but this other thing I where I should be able to create another xmllist and read jsut what i want from there.
Mine seems to be in a quandry as to what rows and columns I need or it won'tfire but I have had this problem earlier today so I am getting close

Stumped by 1. Cannot hide the url column if there is no link as per the tree navigation in workrenderer.mxml
2. same file and cannot print out the text like I did in the datagrid model. it cannot really get the same info linked in and I don't know if it is the binding issue or not so I would like to
a) try to create an xmllist or xmlicollection to see what it really it - maybe it cannot read the xml well
b) keep trying the hit or miss approach but i am getting burned out on it and so actually have been hitting Moock again as it helps.
Off work today but had a meeting for 1.5 hrs with Lynn and Ksri on usecasees - very interesting. Go into work todmorrow and then off till Friday. Sent my problem to mitch. It seems that there is some downside to using advanced datagrid as there is little online helpl and needs some development.
Many of the solutions are very much based on the exampes provided and I waste a lot of time finding the right solution to the problem but wacking away trial and error is very time consuming and mind numbing but that is how i seem to do it. |

Bitter cold and winds off the lakes and worries about another fire. Had nasty nite at Applebees with Hugo and gang about who should pay and it irrupted with a fight between Susan, Ericka and I. I feel that he should take us out once in awhile as they eat there alot and to a nice restaurant. But Susan feels I shouldn't be so needy and even if everyone else is taking advantage and stealing their share I should remain true to goodly spirit of giving or somehting ofthat ilk. Erricka jumped in about the state of the disreapair of units etc so it is nasty., I am supposed to apolgize to Hugo and offer the 20 bucks for the meal but maybe I can have a talk with him. |

So I don't know why I am killing myself with the advanced datagrid anyway. Who cares about it? I should be focusing on work inssues and also on just the biz side of things.
Plust I would have to either get the new flexbuilder or else do the work on my own mahchine and uplload it which is a pain in the butt.
I would be better doing some cool tthings like adding the update and append to a file thing and cleaning the send() and doing the database design for the store. |

I bought a 32 in Samsung tv from Kmart last nite in the idea that I will return it after xmas holidays but it seems real nice after an intial bump setting it up. Computer works good and internet movies come across real nice as they fill up the screen. Only thing is when ads come on snag film it it resets it to small and you have to reset it to full screen after each ad plays so that is a bummer.
Economy is really tanking and the speed at which is is going is what is strange - it is like we are on hyperdrive as a planet. Oh well I have been saying we arre going into the big one for years so it is not surprising - I am surprised we have been getting along so well for so long. That is why we moved to the country in the early 70's. Its been a bad dealing going down bad for awhile.

I am back to almost a notepad like existence with this little tool. I like the small boxes where my thoughts seem contained and isolated islands which may or may not be connected.
I hope to string together these thought patterns into a piece of literature. How far from actually writing have I strayed? Is this my job.
Anyway I have got a few good examples of extended database interfaces and this seems to be my favorite version of the simplestate but I want to have it append thoughts so I can go back and drill down deeper into various threads.
As well I want to have a better way to search. I used the advanced grid to find stuff but it wont work on my little database output and I dont know why. somehting to do with the way the xml is formatted and I know there are various ways to do this such as emx4 etc. but I am home now for a few days and I will work on new database model, getting pictures in and out something like the gallery tool.
Oh yeah I finally understand the relationship between the player and the swf. The player is like a huge reservoir of responses which my code, my swf calls to create an experience for the user on the screen. This is what a browser does do or any program which is why they have extended it to air. So that is important to understand what is stored in this player and how it uses the computing power on the user's machine to work and how it can endliessly create interactions between the user,machine and information.And that is why I am excited about it. I know there are the same things happening with handhelds but my eyes are too dim for that. I will stick with the laptopinterface but it really could be extended. |

Whoppee! I now have the append working. Why was this important? Because often I want to go back and add more detail to an idea as this is just a quick way to grab stuff.
I like the minimalist approach to it as well. Much more than a blog idea plus I can keep all the words in xml for formatting later on. I can also group them and resubmit them to other tables with relationships to original ideas. This is brilliant.awwwwwwwwww MAN that must be cool having a nice tv !!!!! |

December 25 2008. Very cold, clear day with excellent walking on the beach. We are hanging in here just the few of us. I am pretty happy after a long walk and then another pulling Beck in the sled. Happy with my new tool but Windows browser wont open up the swfs which is werid.
Xmas in Shawville with the Corrigans and Cartmans. And church at the Corners where I took lots of flowers because I was growig them. and the draft dogers.
I think of all the work my mother would do for xmas - the baking, the decorations, the spray stuff we put on the windows with angels patterns etc. What a lot work she did. Every mother and now Susan has started it too. Well that is how traditions carry on. I am pretty happy just with my flexbuilder and stuff.
I think I should put on some version for which are my favorite ones.
I am getting new glasses on Jan.2 and also need to plot out my new role to get a promotion. How can I set up goals for that which are meaningful etc and within guidelines for improving my position at work officially as I think I am useful at least.
Ok I want to test out my stuff here and also see what my xml looks like for eventual inclusion into an xml reader for publication. |

I am doing an exercise from page 211 in Essential Actionscript 3.0 but cannot find out how to get the full output of xml from my database. My progam reads the output and formats it exactly the way I put in the form but the php file I see is very much different - it is just a blob of text all mushed together serially.
For my purposes I want to be able to sort and do things with the xml so I need:
1. php mysql way to get the data out from database into xml that I can then convert to word ro some text formatter
2. convert it to html afterwords or pdf.
3. but i want to use trace to output what i have in flexb also which shouldn't be so hard but cannot do it but can now with debug on see a trace in the console. |

so I found a very nice little thing for doing advanced datagrid which provides a dropdown aspect.I think it is cool but I want to get this as my primary input for all ideas which are then stored in a database.the one problem is how to do this when off line but I think I can do it by having a datamodel. anyway I am very far along on some of this stuff and think I can use the advanced for our dg at work. still cannot refres it properly though.

Big question is how to sterilize the bottles and the need for dextrose for the energizing. It is seemingly quite expensive to make beer with only a few cents savings but we can see what we can shave off it.
I think I will buy the next batch too so I maintain ownership of it. I suspect E and S will drink most of it but then maybe they will start to take ownership and I can sit back and drink off the fat of the land not that I drink too much.
so Susan helpled take off all the labels and we put the bottles through a dishwater cycle and now we aer going to boil them and then bottle so whoppee. |

Wow what a lot of work and 48 bottles of beer to show for it - lets see about 70 later so that is 1.25 a bottle not counting the heat for sterilizin the bottles. Oh well perhaps we can get it cheaper as we go along.

Later that night. Ericka and I went to South Shore brewery and bought enough supplies for 2 more batches which cost 120 with a 4.50 beer that I bought while waiting there. i like it there and would like to play music there.
So I am done with the new iris viewer which reads from the same xml file as my gallery viewer does and now I am thinking that maybe I should not worry about creating a database for the site but merely leverage what I have with a new snazzy viewer. I could create the tables though with that thought in mind.
My big problem is the shopping cart which I want to keep on the main site so i will keep it the way it is but want to do the following to the website;
1. create a link for new viewer(s)
2. fix a dynamic array for changing best sellers with javascript somehow and fix main page and all landing pages for quick access to good links.
3. fix right side so it alings properly so back to rtml haha
Well Ajax may be better but IDE for Flex is sure better from my perpective. |

I know what I want to do with the new viewer - left side with right side html so that the viewer clicks on the order and the page comes up, then there won't be any loss when they go back. Not sure how todo it but it but think that it can be done.
So rather at an end of what to do with datagrid and want to go back to Moocks book so that I can learn how to program and how to add the paperview 3d stuff as well.
I think I will not get the store running on php as the cart system is daunting for me to consider to redo so I will abide by the ruling on it as many people are working on it. Text is my big fortet right now and xml.

Health was an issue but so was travel. Had hernia operation and dealing with a bad back but travelled to San Francisco and also NYC.

Well I did start out the year good by taking a long walk on the back trail. Very cold but refreshing.
Supposedly we are going to the Field Museum. but I rather dread it as last nite was an evil evening and Susan freaked out at block buster.
I feel I am in a loveless relationship and an abusive one as she abuses me mentally.
Later that morning. So I got my boat covered with a tarp and the water pailed out so I feel better. Talked to S and she is taking kids to Field Museum to give me a break or us both from each other and it is a welcome thing as I have been home here for over a week and it is tedious to say the least and we are in each other's hair and face. |

I now have the finished product as a link but I am not so happy. It uses a frame with noscroll on the left and then when you click Order it opens the flower with prices etc on the right side. This is one way which I can keep the checkout page for shopping cart intact and yet use flash but I am still aways from really using the tools but then the yahoo shopping system is pretty mature and I dont have to worry alot about how it runs.
I can spend some time fixing up existing stuff such as layout and pictures and also create a new template for the items I want which is reallhy just another framing for them I think.
It would be nice to have the picture show up inthe viewer or finder as I call it without all the business going on.
Oh the colors of backgroun for website is FFFFCC which I like and will try to keep.

He can align some best practices and see how to introduce a pilot project into his department, or approach management with the idea based on what problems they see daily in this market.
Stress the telecomme verses insurance industry in our opening, then show how an open source approach is cost effective, usable for both a POC and also a production tool.
Stress the scope, toolset and demo by adding new set of release notes.

This is what I sent to Obama egov site for my input - I think quality of human beings is important.
Why dont animals need glasses?
Our discussion focused on quality of health care as the reason being -what does cost mean in terms of quality. There needs to be an integrated approach to health care. you cannot remove the environmental factors that may effect our health. You cannot treat health care or lack of it as an isolated event.
The food industry is responsible or bad health or bad choices for customers which ties into lack of education - if the consumer is aware of what choices are available that are healthly then they may be able to withstand high powered marketing by corporations bent on profit.
Which brings into play the whole philosophy of the market driven system.
You cannot isolate health because the strength of our community, country is dependent on the health of our citizens.
So summing up, take a wholistic, integrated look at the problem, set up a health czar if you want but act now |

My datagrid has been pulled. Was asked yesterday to add content etc and there was some confusion about the scroll bar from B and Bill so it is gone. Seems the user has some trouble so I will just make a nice long list. And I had really nice popup happening. so mitch wants my license to help and he posted it as me the tech writer which I am hearing about a lot. Maybe I need to redefine what a tech writer is doing these days.

Mitch suggested the prototype approach. As I did try to slip this in and let someone discuss it or use it compared to the other system.
Actually I could use the accordion component for the word render and have each panel provide a group category but why bother! I don't need the grief but I do need the stuff for my website and my personal writing.1-7-09
I have the accordion working fine but need to figure out the xmlist to do a category for each panel.
working on frontpage version for B and L and doing so easily happily but don't want datagrid to go south as I see how I use the datagrid in each panel for my store then reducing the amount of time for loading the whole big list.
Don't want to jeopadize my positon here by not appearing to cooperate fully as I did screw up with Jean Anne and don't want to not good in the sandbox playing.
Worried about sharing license key with Mitch as I might lose access to flex 3 which at this point is disastorous. |

I have been struggling for a great long time with xmllist and xml in general from e4x perspective so I have made some minor headway on this.
background: I am using an accordion flex component and I want to read in just certain categories to display in a datagrid such as category = strategy for work or category =iris as then each drop down with display more quickly. so using moock's script i got it to trace out to the debug console window and read in or load in an xml file so now I must get it into a variable that can be used then read in datagrid. Then each panel in accordion will be a seperatd category or whatever else I may want. This is very useful and glad I got at least part way on it.

How to pull in a .as file into an mxml, as I have the xmllist filter working but cant get it running in the accordion component but I have some good downloaded examples, none of which work just that correctly or give me exactly what I want but close enough.
Changes at work and Add and bil are gone to be replaced by wh lr c. a hardened veteran of the blues, I like that 'A hardened veteran of the blues'!

I am at the Cultura center and feeling sad. I missed the First Friday for uof c best books open books lecture series and I miss the books, the being an author type of feeling or having indeed anything to say. But I saw a nice exhibit of the TV or projector doing some stuff that I could do in Flash and even have this stuff on there.
As an expression of how I feel about my place in the world, the universe.
There is a nice alcove for book sellers, maybe I should be a publisher. I am sad and blue today.

Later back at work... so i got kicked off the computer by the security guard but I accessed by website too to see how the Plant Finder worked - it needs to be widened as I have noted from several computers.
Phoned susan and told her about my ideas for multimedia which I have been hearing since algonquin college days when that one girl was mouthing off about it.
I never liked it but now it seems to have matured.
So the iTouch apple ipod is great as I had a good look at it on the apple store on Michigan Ave which was packed.

Ok so I am keeping the yahoo store as it seems to have good reviews for speed and accessibility and I am going to try tweak the item page to have a web 2.0 feedback and acessory type feel.
I think it can be done with php call to the database, or with a flash file that is attached to the item template which can get the ID from yahoo store and then do a sql call to my sql where the same id is there with other info such as another photo, customer feedback etc.
It seems simple but the trick is to get the sql to automatically use the id in its statement.
If phy works that would be good.
so it is back to old rtml a bit i think and I have dusted off the books

It is very web 2.0 based and feedback oriented so all that is really done for me and it is accessible and open source which means there is great support. What about the whole theme of
Xcountry skiing yesterday and again to day. so that is fun. Best snow ever yesterday. And my beer is excellent. Real brador like beer and I think it is very strong and malty. So on to make more.
I do like my little interface here but then it is more a personal thing.

Loaded opensource Joomla and VirtueMart shopping cart system and it sometimes works and sometimes does not and i think it is sorta a domain issue.
IOd did setup domain forwarding and that may be the problem too. But it certainily looks interesting for sure. |

Well it was the SEO button in the global configuration but I just screwed up everything and have to reload it all as I deleted alot of stuff from the root directory which iguess I needed but it was definitely working and also there is some domain problem for sure happening but now I will be Ok as i liked what I saw for sure.
I had to reload totally everything and now it is working fine though a little slow, slower than the old yahoo store for sure even with all its big graphics etc so that is something to think about. No doubt that is done no purpose or it is another server which has little bandwidth due to the freebie part of it or maybe I have too much happening on the php stuff as it has the whole kit and kidoodle attached.
working from home today at oahill and Jason seems to have moved in and cleaned up part of the ktichen at least.

I have my thoughtviewer working inside now but it is rather narrow but does function ok sothat is something.
And I optimized the site and the speed is much better by removing module that I am not using etc and also by doing some caching. but it still reloads each time and I would to see it just keep the thing intact but maybe i can use this flash inside here. Just make more more narrow or use another template for it. So whoopee.
But this template is a bit annoying with the large blue space at the top. If I could do a sort of same thing as my other store it may be nine |

Wow, I am sorta impressed though dobut if Flash and Joomla will really work well together but I am back at my little game of mash up I guess they call it. Speed is Ok and I can actually see the whole thoughtviewer now if I hold down Ctrl key and the scroll key.
Navigation is a big problem now finding where the articles are and the FAQs. I cannot seem to set the top panel right all the time and of course, template design is an issue.
Thinking too (forgot my train of thought.
Now wondering about how to integrate flash with a shopping cart. Well it doesn't hurt to set up the mysql database as that will be accessible by flex right.
I still find it a bit buggy. There seems little effort in the flex to shopping cart arena. I am thinking too that I can just attach a litttle code to each plant product in yahoo store to provide the web 2.0 feeling with customer feedback and forumish type stuff. There may be life left in the yahoo store but I will continue to investigate this technology. I got some real nice posters showing the enire family of Flex and AS 3.0 so that is cool and I think I will get them framed as they are really beautiful. On to michigan city.

One thing I really hate is tables on html and flex is so cool about laying things out. To me so logical, so x and y coordinates. Once you do that, why go back to old technogies and I dont like the refresh things with Joomla. I like the idea of being connected and refreshing only a portion of the page. I have something now that is OK - nice and simple and fairly fast so I can now start to add some products and I think I will zip all the images too as the server is supposed to upzip them I believe.
I brought 2 cases of beer to my house which is pretty nice right now thx to Larry's cleaning efforts. He waxed the floor or somehting but smells like bacon too which is OK.
So I need to add the 800 number and a bunch of stuff about who we are etc. and selling terms but if I keep the modules down to a minimum that would be excellent.
And I can just process credit cards by hand until I get the hang of it and the email working.
Also the backup that Sean talked about.
Oh yeah fundraising must be looked into.
I want to go skiing, get sugar and then bottle my beer before Susan gets back. Maybe I should forgo the skiing? |

HMMM I spoke too soon as Firefox doesn't display the id number which it does on my local machine so go figure but I think that is a sort of minor point as I found a new swfobject which is for loading swfs and it browser specific or something but at least it works on IE 7 or beta which is a little buggy to say the least.
Still impressed with the whole flash development world and think it is merely at the beginning so I should jump in there for sure.

so I found some very useful javascript examples but need time to work at them. Definitely doable but it is a project and also of course there is no perfect example that will get me up and running but rather it is a big job racking it up.
Problem is that the examples show just one page whereas I need to read each page as it opens so the flash needs to read from current just loaded or else wait I am confiused to the program loads fresh from each page or can I have it just remain open and read it - no it has to load each tiem the page is loaded, then it can read in the attribute.
Still I got some good examples with regex and everything.
Really a lot of motion out there. I think I am doing a mashup.

I reached a major milestone in that I can now read the id number for each product item and with that no doubt I can use a sql call to the mysql db to bring out a bunch of data to fill out a datagrid. I am thinking, rating stars, comments, shade or sun, more detials like if it is reblooming and reports, soil type and other notable characteristics.
There were a few milestones
1. firstly there was getting a box right next to the caption in each id and that I got down in a few nights and reading the rtml book. Still need to remove the template from each major heading and need to rename products with a 4 digit number 0000 up to 9999 which is 10,000 products which I will not ever read. I have too many products all ready.
2. was reading the id number from the url address with ACtionscript and now I can pretty easily data bind that to the insert command where tb= id= id number and then it will be an accordion drop down = so good to do this and I feel I have really solved a problem.
Could i do this for work well I probably woundlt enjoy it and think this a some pastime of an old fart
I think this will really enhance the store and provide some relief from Daves watchdog gardne as now people can spead the word right on the product them selves.
I should mention that the colors of flwoers is dependent on the soil to some degree and the mineral etc that are found there. |

Nishan offered her an internship outside of Delhi but after some research with past interns she is rather at a loss to know what to think about the situation. Even I am disappointed. It seamed good and Iwas ready to back her up but in light of the negative feedback from a student in Vancouver I think she is really doubting it. |

Amy got some more negative feedback on the NGO and I got some OK stuff back, and forwarded it to her so I feel bag but think she should maybe go anyway. The NGO world is pretty mixed up and a new field to begin with.
She is pretty disappointed but better now etc and I think I will start a podcasting site with mhy store and I also want to have it to print out the pdf version of my store which will be the whole catalog they can print off themselves so now the big questin is how to imporrt all my id and some info - whether to use the virtue mart logo or just to use a new one. i think this has been coming for awhile so why dont i do it right Import into the store. |

Well so close and so far. I still can get the variable to read into the php but I am getting close - binding seems to have fixed it i think. still testing though I sent it on to Mitch to help but he told me to check out fabridge for javascript so I will but i dont think that is the problem at all.
And so close again but now I have the dummy version which I hard code the code-page number to which is 2000 and at least I can look at how it looks on the real site. I have great hopes for it to improve useability and improve the sense of adding content to WEB 2.0 aspect.
I will add the code here.
I now have the binding sorta working but it will not read the damn thing which makes me think it is just some silly little ' or punctionation thing that is screwing it up. But everyhing is workin now here is flex code to date:

So now to turn it into a reality - there is much work to be done on the website and this is a crucial tool to turn Daves WatchDog site to our advantage the general knowledge about the plants in general.
Here is checklist - in no order but we need a timetableand I might want to take a day off to do this
1. remove the yellow backgroun in rtml and make it white
2, remove template that provides the flash for all items for all the category heads or parts like iris, or soil or specials- this is a 2 part step to remove the call in module
3. add all other daylily and siberians to ajoo db with minimum of 2 comments
4. add tooltip to the flash program as well as star rating and popup, then
5. add insert into comments with hard coded stuff like y for publish
6. try to add a login into ajoo
7 send out email massmail with newsof it and also the field station
Mail will discuss new tool, community and how we have to solve the problem and not wait or let the government do this for us. Obama is in a way wrong to say govt can be the answer but hey let him try.

Ok so it is working but I have a few issues such as the login aspect and how to use it but I might have it solved by a simple read of the data and then bind that data to the application - wow that is something.
so here are the list of changes to the interface that I think I need:
1. several different states
a. login or
b. register
2. I found some nice little links with demos which might solve my problem. I already have access to the backend joomla database of users which I hope to just add too. also foudn a nice front end for myphp replacement. so at least I think I can add a user list input but I want a very minimal one that allows me to see who has responded.
soit would be
1. login or register with name and password with an email (I want to add peple to my maillist obviously this is a goal to increase that tool) then I want to read the userid back to the application so that the name is associated with the comment and then keep that state if the user goes to a new product. Can I pass that ID to the next time the program loads

I gave Susan the 50.00 money order that my mother gave me for my birthday. And I payed her 100.00 for the rent for Larry etc. I also got paid from Erikca-Duneland rental for tractor rental and transporting it.That was 125.00 which I signed over to Susan for the 200.00 I was remiss on for 2 monthws ago as the Ada account, and I wrote out a check for 100 which covered the 85 for the Vibe registration and 15 for groceries so I only owe her 25 more.
Beck is pretty sick and threw up yesterday twice and this morning. He is just laid low with the flu I guess>
He just lays on the couch or wherever and sleeps though he ate some rice krispies this morning and is drinking lots of water. He threw up at the art show in Chesterton where Susan was displaying art so that was his opinion of art though I thought it was pretty good,
I am rather depressed about DC calling me talk about servering off a piece of the land for Chickie. It is sad because we are breaking off a piece of it and then how do I maintain a prescence there. I miss the Pontiac and feel I am being pushed out. |

I went up and helped put on a tin roof over the kitchen and the valley is there - cost about 560.00 which I put on the credit card so I feel better. Nice to have that place to go to and be part of and would like to keep it that way, even move back some day, though I know it sounds ridiculous.
I needed that place to go when things go badly here and i may yet need to reestablish my Canadian prescence there so I want to keep my options open indeed and I should try to find some work up in Ottawa area also. Or start some business up there. What could I do.
I did finally sell the flats which was easier that I thought but I feel sorta empty now and no connection with Oxford County. |

Last nite I dreamt or at least semi-wakened and thought of my dad. I guess my relationship with my sons Jesse and Beck are on my mind with my the conf with Jesse going on. I am pretty much got it in order and ready to review - opening etc.
I know my dad loved me though at times I really thought he was overly concerned with himself and I guess I fall within that shadow as I am very selfish. so he called me every school day and it was the drumming that really showed as he picked me up for practices etc and drove me home late after a weekend gig and that would be 2-3 Am the morning. he wanted me to practise more which I wouldn't do much. I liked the money but I liked also the band and watching the people dance.
When I left for college the band kinda feel apart. I know he once said that the band needed the good drumming, the beat which was a compliment to me but also I wanted to play fiddle and guitar so he gave me a fiddle.
I drummed for the band from 14- 20 and even some weekends when I came back from college and xmas time but I was bound to leave my home land and seek out other climes. I began reading books playing basketball etc.
He didn't come to basket ball etc but did spend time with me for sure even though it was very mercenary in a way but it taught me a lot.
So it was comforting to me last nite to think of Ed Towle. I was proud of him though in the last few years of his too short life he really went downhill as the insurance business used him up, except for North Blenhiem insurance which kept him on and the clothing store that he worked in which I thought was demeaning but he stuck it out till he retired, by that time I was gone. Now I am in his shadow with leaving my wife for love. Still we had times togehter. |

So amy has inspired me to look again at my Amos story which was typed up by chickie back in late 70s to submit to a novel contest which I didn't place so I just now scanned in OCR and now have it digital and thinking about making a podcast of it. It reads fine and I think I can do part 2 which just carries on from France and to the Pontiac - with flashbacks to the earlier times. It stands on its own and the ending that I never really thought was an ending is now just the beginning of more of the intropsective look at a quiet life. Really such a dork. |

I am really bad at colors and stuff but I could explain how this works and the fact that it is all in a database and how can I now play with this as part of the xml strategy and get it to work., I need to join Oasis which is 300.00
Back at OKG and spread rest of the fill that Chesterton brought me after brinking about 23 loads of chips they brough enough to level out the land for the greenhouse to about 2 feet depth with black soil with some railroad fill in it..
Got the Dymo labeler working fine again and did 40 return address, the wine labels and 11 each of the magic soil labels - just the simple small ones.
I will have to add the instructions from website for each one. This is really nice for some reason it really works for me as I can now sew together a bunch of stuff to make this work better. |

I am back to where I left off about 8 months ago with the Flex development where I was trying to sort the EAS list of documents. Now I am working on my Portfolio which is a Flash based program interfaced into a php mysql database which portrays all the work I have done in a logical patterned display based on projects which exhibit the skills, accomplishments, etc.
I got some interest in my IA resume and there were a splurt of jobs online but they all asked for a Portfolio of work viola that is what I am working on. I am so happy to have found this little thoughtviewer again. It seems so perfect for me. I have the time now, it is fall and I can really delve into it. right it is like as soon as I try to do anything, I rever to Flex as my solution, even Hugo's idea of selling the dog properties, I had a website, database idea which he nixed, but it is where my passion lies so I must follow it.
He is buying into Lawrence's water treatment plant etc and needs to raise 8 million but in the guise of helping me he is really helping himself so I must needs help myself.
I don't like the UI Debit card as it dings me 3.00 each time I use it.
So on to the problems with the Flex -

Rather muddled and perplexed and stymied again, a fog descends. I can now get the result of an HTTPService as an XMList collection but cannot sort it without first invoking the old ActionScript and I cannot find a good examlple though there are some in the Flex cookbook so I should try those.
I think it easier to just have a dropdown selection of Categorys that will trigger the SQL logic at the php end but then how do I trigger the accordion at the other end and then do a refresh and I want to lay the content out for the reader to see all my portfolio, so the portfolio is becoming rather a big job in itself but I am learning and relearning and organizing all my work effort this way.
This site too needs to have a search facility which I will work on next.
This would be another state that has a free form input that can use some fancy sql to get the like or as working to return the topic and or category. That has been on my mind for some time.

There is a problem with a sql select which returns only a single row - it wont show up and this is because it is an array and it won't show a single row. I saw this on one posting and I dont know quite how to deal with it as I found it in the plant viewer I created as welsl except when it is an xmllist object so I am always at the crucible of what exactly produced from the php call I see. if it is a single row how to show it. With the commenting system I just created 2 of each by hand but this is not a real solutions.
What I want is a drop down to list all the topics in the database and then when the user selects that then a sql is initiatied which brings back all select* and we can do orders etc so the whole logic and filtering is done on the sql side as opposed to bringing in the data into some list and working on it from the xml and actionscript side.
I aso feel that I am behind in the whole Flex world as Flex 4 is out there and also DITA Tookit 1.5 |

I got it. The final getting all the xml from database then manipulating in with the regex, well someone esle did and i copied it and jiggered it till I got it working.What am I doing with this stuff. I worked lieka dog to get it working and it was a simple thing. I had to set the value to enabled in the design view but I cannot see where in the code it actually says that so how does it figure that out. It didn't work until it was enabled, here is the code:

The regular expression here is the standard test which returns a boolean value yes or no so if it has a letter and there is a match then it displays it- if no match then displays nothing or if you type nothing then it displays all which I don;t understand ccompletely but it works well enough for now but I am impressed by power of regex engine in Flex and now I can get the displaying of results where before all I had was the trace so that is good. |

To do with my new web Flash stuffy
1. oxford Bean = portfolio database and is showcase for all high tech stuff including, the flash demos and work done, with swf etc and movie of me and speaking

These are my long range goals and I want to do this both with a mind to showing off my stuff for potential customers and also as a record as it took me some time to get back up to speed on this stuff after a 8 month hiatus where my manager told me to ' get back to basic tech writing whatever the hell that was supposed to mean.
I guess I do want to work on this stuff as I like and seem to have preserved to get something done and I have been doing little flash stuff now for 5 years, dickering away and now with Flex I feel it is very good and i have good some strenghts/

I just found out that if there is a Null value in Comment field then there is no way to add. I made a mistake in this by sending it empty by mistake but I guess i can fix this.

A long cold autumn, this 2009. this last week has been devastating for me personally or professionally after a real come down from head hunters etc.
But I have the greenhouse frame up. Cost me for help 80, doors 200, plastic 4 yr durafilm ,380, plus 100 in lumber and we are not done yet but most of cost is done except for power which will be some more as I ahve talked to Nipsco to see what they can do. |

Greenhouse is to provide flowering potted plants for sale during the Iris Festival held in Oakhill Garden each spring.
Daylilies, Iris and other plants such as lily-of-the-valley would e good and not annuals per se., Perhaps native plants but they must be flowering that is very important.
But we need to be sure they dont start flowering too early as they would be destructive. Also avoid heaving etc.
Dec4th 09 and cold but no snow. Greenhouse is covered in 2 layers of 6 mil 4year UV treated poly and ends are in. I will add a picture to a new entry thought. Got plastic on last sunday with Ericak and Sean helping. It was a splendid day and sunny and low winds but I still manged to slightly rip it myself with a stick I had made specially to not rip it!!
end wall are mostly two sliding doors with glass doors from a heavy duty slider I found in the garbage here at the Dunes.
I took in many loads of topsoil and some black compost from the city yesterday which I mixed up with the tractor tiller so we can now start to think of potting up plants. I am thinking maybe I wount do so many iris or daylillies and focus on regular annuals and hanging baskets etc
Now the problem of getting gas and electrical power to it. What a battle. I found cheap wire in Indianapolis but Susan wants me to not do that. I shouldn't have told her!!!
Feb 11 Big snowfall for past 2 days and more coming. 2nd big storm of the year. I now have electricty to the red shed and wired up a long extension cord of 12 wire and running a electric space heater there so that is good at least. Big wind now so I hope that it will blow the snow off the house before it gets too heavy and collaspes it.
Misterhouse is running fine now - all lights ectc. oh yeah no gas yet.They need to weld something at the road! I wont need gas for a little while yet.
Ordered lots of seeds, all cooler weather ones and need to order some hanging backet materials etc I guess from Jakes and fiber pots from up in Wisconsin.
I have bought a little inflation fan and potting mix from BFG but haven't set up yet
April 7th and bursting at the seems. Been warm and nice for a week so I set out plants in a large coldframe but too much rain and hail last nite so that was bad. but little damage. Things look good but I am concerned that my soil mix is not that consistent and is pretty heavy too but marigolds are about to bloom and I got a load of plants from micandy such as geraniums etc and they are nice.
Now to find a market. |

We are planning a trip to Florida this Xmas time. Drive right down to the keys and stay a few days before XMAs then hightail it back up to St Petes to stay at the condo for 4 days before heading out. I have got several good books out of the local library and need to keep this list of things to do:

I am very interested in Florida from a writers perspective, Why because it has great impact on pollution, ecological disasters, human disasters and the babyboom destination, tugboat annie characters.
We need to be prepared for cold weather going through the south eastern USA and coming home as there are big storms that time of year. Plus I want to have the greenhouse in good shape. I should start putting soil mixes in there right now, First till it in then bucket it in so it will be warm etc

Also a carosel would be nice to have for flowers, tedious I know as they are everywhere but are a good sales vehicle and one that people know and understand. Perhaps we could have a real 3-D one |

A dizzying array of approaches causes me grave concern. I am reaching out for help to get guidance on this without spending an inordinate amount of time working on it. I guess the real problem is can I install it on my webserver from yahoo which doesn't give me root etc. But I think it is using apache webserver and also they are using an older version of php mysql.
I can load it on my own xammp server localhost to test but I think it a waste of time if I am really going to use it online for store but maybe I should explore it for my upcoming prez in seatlle.
I also should spend time now fixing up all my portfolio for work stuff now that I have this working fairly nicelyh. |

I see no easy way to add these inline to the text but I have already added them in the OKG viewer and can add them as seperate pieces easily by adding 2 new fields to the database and then rendering them.
the documentation tells how to insert them in one-offs but no way programmatically to insert them inline with text though the new api for flextext might allow it but for now I will add the fields which can be set below the send buttons. |

I have resized but it looks rather tatty now and i am too tired to do more on it.

Still waiting to hear back from the last interview and getting an eneasy feeling but I don't want to appear needy as that would appear bad in light of any future negotiation.
Either they are still looking or have been too busy to get the fedex offer togehter.
Maybe I am too expensive or maybe based on my last interview with CEO it didn't go well but I must assume the best.
One wrinkle is that I don't want to miss the fedex as the address is to sunnyside so that is a problem but I have the tenant there - Carol keeping an eye on it.
If this doesn't pan out then I am without a real option but the date was Jan. 4th so maybe they are just busy and I know last week was a very short week, after Thanksgiving things really slow down in USA, then we have the HIb issue to deal with but I really don't mind not working until the end of January, that woud be perfect.
In the meantime I am busy with greenhouse, my flex programming which is going very well and running kids around. Aslo the SVG project which is getting my feed wet in the framemaker world very nicely thankyou.--------------------

Dire times indeed. I drove all the way to Detroit for a contract interview but no word back but I think I am over qualified. Sylco was a no go finally got word back. think I was too expensive as it seemed good and I was there 3 times! Detroit is for BCBS and medical content writing but I didn't haven't any samples and didn't get a good descritpion of requirements from the agency but I liked downtown detroit and raced back because they were putting in gas and electric to the greenhouse which they did in one day and then it got cold and snowed.
I am down to UIC now so that is no so good. Feeling a little discouraged and need to retool and my im problems are not going away so fast. The economy still sucks but I shouldn't let that get me down should I?

Oh yeah I did the SVG which was a flop and it was I proved a Framemaker problem but I still need to bill for it. I hope she pays me. I should send her a little blurb about my upcoming presentation.
I feel that is a hope for some work. Maybe I should start advertising on google for work in xml.
A lot of my time now is spent running kids around but it isn't too bad.

It is now I am getting burned out and must focus on job searching which is narrowed down a bit to RIM and staying here which neither is too bad.
Trying to focus again on getting a job this time with RIM and this is the 4th interview. i don't want to blow it and wonder if I am over engineering the thing a bit. I download an app for 1.95 to help me with it as I am getting tired of the whole process, my leg or knee hurts and I want to lay down and rest right now.
Still worried about technical questions and also about mentioning that I want to maybe work down here.

I have a flex application that is pulling all its data from an xml file. I wanted to add links to certain pieces of text. I finally figured out a way to make it work... if this is the best way or not, I do not know, but it works! (This is why I'm not a programmer... haha).
Use a combination of xml file with node wrapped in the ![CDATA[ tag, Text component, and the htmlText property.
Example:

Yahoo stores regualarly output an xml version of the store so that google and other search engines can report on them so what if I just referred to that xml as e4x and voila I could query the whole store. I know there is a a link for that. And I think that way I could l build a alternative store from a flash.

It is now running as jquery mobile app sorta but since I included that it no longer goes to an existing store link but reverts to main index page. I think there is some hash happening in there that stores the root as per the jq mobile notes which is in alpha.
Now i have iThought viewer working well too at http://site.oakhillgarden.com/ithink and pretty happy with it except it is not all ajax.
Problem with the xml is that I cannot access it directly even though it is a simple http xml file but something in browser restricts me from accessing. I have a new php server but it too is not working but I am getting burned out and must focus on job searching which is narrowed down a bit to RIM and staying here which neither is too bad.

Notice the +1032 is the product id so that can be added when I am in my flash program but I don't know the value of doing that really. I could add the product id to the html link pretty easily but why? The goal is commenting and maybe bookmarking to provide a list of favorites to come back to to. Th is would be usuful based on the shopping cart or pre shopping cart system. Fill up your shopping bag as you go - a virtual shopping bag.
As it brings me back to the original store and I can have a link there to go back to the swf program or I could program or hack the shopping cart system but I don't think that would be that appropriate at this time.
the idea is to get the different cooler view with an Web 2.o approach of interactive feedback.
So my new one would be like the old plantviewer but able tologin and leave a comment and I can use this right away for the siberian identification by the lady so nice.

so what can read the rich text editor, if I find that then I can do a lot of fancy fonty things that will enhance my writing, right? wellmaybe, what does the rich text editor use? to show its versions?
I think I can use rich text editor to supply funky stuff but to what end? It will mess up the database and I can do what I want already by supply the raw html and I can add the bold etc so why should I bother with it. Maybe as a simple editor and copy and paste and have bigger fonts but I use the text output for each of these things as a database solution right.
I like how flex is pretty primitive in away and provides limitations for me. constraints as they are told. |

d1000 IS THE DITA commenting prototype and remember that it requires a web site address such as 1000.html as it reads the last 4 digits and maps to the database - note to describe database schema
A2000 is the flower commenting system which I am in process of updating but will leave this around for awhile - same as above it resolves itself based onthe webpage you are visiting in the store.
thoughtviewer is in sandbox and 7 is latest iteration ,no i am wrong it is E4x folder
I have both d1000 and a2000 to work locally so there may a need to change to the localhost for xammp.

My oakhill_store.mxml is working fine on my laptop but when I uploaded it it refuses to work and i think it is a cross domain thingy which is irritating as hell but I see I must deal with it. I have been lucky so far in that I simply run the files from the domain and it seems to work which leads me to believe that it is the xml file - maybe too big or something that is not liking.
I am using a httpservice and not the >mx-model so that may be the issue but here is an elink which I am storingin link too.

Struggling away. I bought the definitive Oreilly book on SVG Essential and learned about and and xlink which would be a great solution but FM doesn't use it, so here is the problem defined.
1. SVG using defs and use xlinks
2. transform the SVG based on the conditional tags. Can we nest
then we can use xslt based on selection of the conditional tag or ditval but how is this triggered from Frame as we could do it easily in Ant I am sure.
Maybe I shoulld just do this in Dita OT as POC as I now have the plugin from Deborah.

SVGs - converting EPS diagrams to SVGs to be used in Framemaker. Do they support layers and the problem is centered around the conditional text that is part of the existing diagrams.
Is the problem that they cannot see them?
or is it that they must convert to SVG first and that is the problem?
Docbook to the resuce though as the link sums it up pretty well.

I have been totally stalled on the novel for the past 4 months but feel it is about time to begin again to moil it over.
In an apology to my artistic self I have been busy and was hoping to get a new job which would provide me at least commuting time to write again as it was working onthe train to work etc but I have done this:
1. sold the Beachville Flats
2. build the greenhouse
3. really got somewhere on flex as this little program shows
4. got a speaking engagement in Seattle
5. found a little consulting gig with Dita as the focus
6. spent time with kids a lot
7. planned a trip to Florida
8. bought a new truck with junkers program
9.made 30 gallons of beer and 5 gallons of wine. ordered supplies for 15 more gallons of Ipa
10. TOOK Amy back to Ottawa and put steel roof on cottage
11. Planted mammoth clover on oakhill and got 50 loads of twister chips and 50 loads of leaves and black soil with gravel where I put the greenhouse.
12. Got a Garmin and new sansa disc player (for free).
I was thinking I had a job and a fix to all my e problems but it seems fading into the distance. I would have had to move there to Schambery area as it is too far to commute and I was willing to do this and went there 3 times and really thought they werer going ahead with an offer. It is a Dita shop too. Seemed like good people but no word either good or bad but the delay makes me think that they are considering their options. Maybe I overpriced myself but I am not going to work cheap at this time as I think things are going to turn around and I also consider I have my life;s work in writing which is why I am adding this work stuff to the novel category.
It seems I am hiding from this world in my flex creations but it reallly keeps my mind sharp and i like the simplicity of it and quickness of it. I am touching the great memory stack.
Now I am working on SVGs and adding a carousel to web site but also I am going to fix up the OKG site based on my new plant sleuth program.
I am wondering about the possiblity of starting a programming company using flex for little programs to sell online. it might be fun. |

Chrome is built ot specification of the SVG very well as it beyond Adobe<, IE and Firefox (which does support some of the functionality) works.
SVG solution worked but not in Framemaker which supports the Adobe SVG broswer plugin!!!
Cold miserable weather and no job prospects, bleak is the minmal word. |

I got a sample working now with a red star and it gives you a greyed out number based on input. I have to get it working in the Dita commenting system and in the flower feedback system but I think it will be pretty straightforward. just wondering now about the fact that they may add a number 6 which might screw it up so i have to do some sort of validation level on it - oh well more complications has you get further advancements. My writing is pathetic., So is my reading. Perhaps I am an imbecile!

Binding Complex XML to a DataGrid in Flex
The datagrid in Flex works very well with flat XML. For example if you have the following XML it is very simple to bind it to a DataGrid.

In the above code the name and age will bind appropriately but the addess column will show [object Object] instead of the value of street and number. There is an easy workaround to display the values of complex XML using the labelFunction from the tag. When we call the labelFunction tag the dataprovider gets passed to the function and we can grab any value from the dataprovider. The following code shows how this works

While this is a very simple example where we have XML data hard coded to a Model there may be times where you get data from web services that you have no control over the format of the data. labelFunction can provide an easy workaround to get the appropriate data into your DataGrid.

FLEX -Using labelFunction for manipulating DataGrid data while loading
The following code shows how to use the labelFunction manipulate DataGrid data as the DataGrid is being populated. This can be useful for e.g. adding two column values and displaying only the resultant column in the datagrid or for formatting a date in a particular format.
for this e.g. this is an xml that will be displayed in the DataGrid. The xml is stored as an XmlList called listXLC

Now suppose, you want to display the date displayed as fri,27/04/2009,07:30 instead of 2009-04-27T07:30:00Z
First create a DateFormatter to format the date as required. For more on DateFormatters read my blog entry on Dateformatters
Create the DataGrid and assign listXLC as the dataprovider
In the above code, we have two columns DataGrid. The first column is mapped to the StartTime element of the dataprovider i.e XML. The second column is mapped to the EndTime element of the XML.
The main interest is for now is the use of labelFunction. This calls a function, in this case called getDateLabel[Note: you do not need to provide the () while calling the function using labelFunction}. The getDateLabel function is shown below

As you can see, the function takes two parameters; these are passed automatically i.e you do not have to pass any parameters when u call this function using labelFunction.
item[column.dataField] relates to the data in the column that called the label function. In our case this would be StartTime and EndTime column. So, for each column, the system will traverse through each cell and the values can be accessed using item[column.dataField]. In our example we get a date object for each of the cell.
In the function, we are using the date formatter%u2019s format method to format the date in each cell to the format we require.
Once formatted the value is returned as a String to be displayed in the DataGrid.
Note: you do not need to specify any code to run the labelFunction. It runs automatically when the DataGrid is being populated with data. This applies for first time data load, any data refreshes or data filtering as well.
In the above getDateLabel function, you can access different elements using item.Element_Name, where item is the name of the object parameter passed and Element_Name represents your Element in the data collection. e.g. item.StartTime, item.EndTime etc. the following function returns a concatenated string of two string elements
Notice, that we are not displaying COlA and ColB. ColC is non existent in the XML, so we supply
ColA as the datafield.

I am having trouble with [object object] returns and wondering why that is so was trying to use textarea or something for itemrender as it works now with a number but how does that get moved to the script to inittiate the stars which I have working so it is how do I relate the number to evoke the stars - i digit per star. Macs seem to work fine and it looks ok but I wonder about the resolution.
Beach area is super cool and trendy but I like it so why pretend all my life to be above it, It is just that I cannot join in - right?
Now at the Youth Hostel in Florida City and on the communal computer. Very fast Inet connection and on a mac both OKG and these swfs are working ver well. Better than the keyboard. We tented out last nite and it was rough but place is very cool and hippish with lots of people just working the floor- young people on the go. I have really done all that I want with the Plant Sleuth, it has search etc and goes to the order checkout so I will add it as an admin tool or for someon really intent on cleaning up the site.

26th of December. Staying at Hugo's condo after camping out in the Everglades at Flamingo or better know to us as Mosquito Bay where the kids look like pinchusions from the mosqitos. But it was lovely.
I have been kept from the computer by Susan as she says I am addicted to it and she is partly right as I have been really working on it to achieve this little tool and feel I have been really advancing my knowledge of it but to what end. I will never be a really great programmer and only use the store as a sort of labratory for learning stuff.
We are staying here as a home base while we explore the whole area as we can easily go even to Orlando to visit sea world etc or Disney world.
Weather is cool and windy but around 60 so we are definitleyly not going to get the real heat but everyday is windy. Why doesn't Florida have solar and wind engergy initiatives?Seems like an ideal place. Florida is a realy great place of diverstiy and troubles for sure. |

I downloaded an x10 dispatch program but still looking for one that does temperature sensing. The problem is that X10 just sends messages to devices for on and off but I need to have data from sensors such as temperature, moisture etc then the abilitty to add logic to the data such as turn on a heater or call me via the cellphone or turn on a water solenoid. I am excted about thisnow with the greenhouse stuff I am finally working on.
I wonder about the temperature problem with the x10 switch though.
The x10 dispatcher lets you phone or email or moitors weather stuff.

Bad day in a sense as I got confirmation that syclo isn't going to hire me. Think it was the price as they started looking right after I visited them. But I wasn't that hard up yet. Old machine not starting so I bought a new desktop mini as I need the dependability of new machine as the old laptop was fading and also I was having trouble getting FM 9 for another 30 days. So I spent 700 but got it here in 1.5 days for only 3 bucks. Amazon is amazing for sure. |

Very impressed though I downloaded verizon shit yesterday and it doesn't work well at all as it lost all my desktop configurations. Still slugging away on the heavy duty stuff for Molleye and geting nowhere on job search or really writing.I am not disciplined at all.

I ordered pansy seeds from Stokes on Saturday as they seem the best varieties - the Mammoth mixes and some others stuff like California and Icelandic poppies for starting early in the basement. I have Mrhouse working good enough to turn lights off and on daily so I can set up the old laptop as the machine to do that. I need to order pots, containers and also hanging baskets with maybe some fushcias or those new cascading petunias. Seems hard to get anything else but those wave petunias now.
I would like to grow those mid size marigolds we used to grow with the big brilliant yellow heads.
Waiting for inspection then gas and electric should be run from Nipsco. Grhs stood up to some realy big snow fall and I had to heat it only for a day with one small propane tank.

I planted 5 flats of Mammoth Pansy on Sunday plus some Poppies so we will see. But I need more cheap seed to fill up the area. Also what about forcing some Siberians, get them out now and divide and put into pots.
Still need to sterilize soil to do a good job and need to find out hwer eto get some soalr panels to fool the lad.
Got new birth for boat in Michigan city for 550 and I get to keep it on shore and use the facilities to launch it so that is not too bad I think. As I can then go for a day and a nite sort of thing if I want to and I think MC is pretty interesing area by the marina. best part of the city.
So planning orderin gmore seeds and supplies oh yeah a good book on buying and planting bare root is in magazine for Deb 2010 for Garden Gate here at library so I can get it out next month. I would like to take something out of that and poin ti tot my site

I have mh running at okg now and available over the internet and easy to control. I even learned how to index my own photos- a little step but slowly getting up to speed on how the thing works and it is indeed very solid. I cannot get the xml server working but a guy in Germany said he would help me but for now I am rolling along fine.
I got the electricity and gas coming finally and what a battle but even got a building permit for the grhs which I need to run as solar powered but I have a way to fool em. I think.
No job prospects but UI still ok and with it I get reduced health care for a year so I will hunker down. ordered seeds and getting basement ready for the seeding days now. In earnest.
I will (due to the building inspector demand that I have no electricity) build solar panel dummy on pole, have battery box on the ground in locked box and wire to a fuse panel and I will run wire from shed to really power it along with water pipe. |

I am going to Seattle Washington today to attend the UAWriter Conference and I am presenting there too. So there you go. I am flying in and staying at the Westin. I am sitting in on a seminar on XML transforms which is exciting to me as it costs some money but Joel the organizer allowed me to attend as there are some seats available. I am leaving behind my greenhouse in Pat's hand. All is set, pots ordered, soil sterilized only the injector pump is causing some concern but I can live without it. |

Arrived in the city last nite late and walked to the market, had a terrible meal and now at the xml seminar which I am sitting in on trying to get tips on better presentation and get an idea of the audience expectations because I wan to do a good job and get mhy message across.
At library after taking a ferry ride to Bambridge Island - about a 1.5 hour round trip. You have to get off. why? THe answer was 9/11 and this could be the answer for the inquisition. I am tired as we went to Ballard, a working class district near the locks and found the best home brew place that had a vaudeville like slow after dinner. It was amazing and very communities oriented. Sexy too though girls were mostly no bosums.

This was entered via my iPod with my simple interface so I am happy but know there is much more I can do to improve it but still it is a great thing to have this access via muliple devices and just improves my world and though my domestic bliss is hard pressed to be worse,
\Flex is definitely better but I can do a lot of the same things with Ajax but it would be nice to just have Apple devices display my flash stuff..
I dont have the comment on main thought done yet but I can do it I think pretty easily but I have to deal with the real estate on the little screen but it makes you think. |

Well I have this ithought working fine on the Flex but now I am moving over to the HTML5 world based on my experience with the Ipod touch which I absolutely love. I am looking at wireless hubs with 3g and or 4g but it i still too expensive as I cannot but think that my 3g will suck worse than the verizon dsl.
I have this working in the ipod download but very primitive. I want to use the DOM and better interface that sproutcore will provide with total client side work.
The Browser is the compiler! that is quite a change in thought process. |

This uses a stripped down version of the xml as a source so I must parse it pretty nicely with the e4x stuff so javascript is my next little test on that. Then convert it to Json.
Need to find the Flex programming I did for this and use what I can for it.
I loved Flash but it wont work on Ipod etc. |

Ok so it works fine in Flash but not jscript version that is paragraph stuf interesting.
Yes I now have this working fine using jquery and it provides just what I always wanted. It is now running as jquery mobile app sorta but since I included that it no longer goes to an existing store link but reverts to main index page. I think there is some hash happening in there that stores the root as per the jq mobile notes which is in alpha.
Now i have iThought viewer working well too at http://site.oakhillgarden.com/ithink and pretty happy with it except it is not all ajax.
Problem with the xml is that I cannot access it directly even though it is a simple http xml file but something in browser restricts me from accessing. I have a new php server but it too is not working but I am getting burned out and must focus on job searching which is narrowed down a bit to RIM and staying here which neither is too bad.

I need to break it down into smaller chunks to present at a time based on I am hinking the IDs as that is numberical unless there is something other than to deal with or else preprocess it somehow such as filter it with jscript on the fly. or put it into the DOM and work with it from there. |

This is November 11, 2010. I got a job offer from research in motion. The job will be in Ottawa working in the BlackBerry OS job at development group is a technical writer. I sent back my acceptance and now I am waiting for the background check to be completed.
I am rather tired from all the work and all the paperwork I had to do . I had to get a bunch of work done and also I had to deal with Bill Russell plowing the fields at the river. Douglas angry I think he wanted the land to do for himself and he wants it cleaned up and put back into production.
Now Karen is mad because I am bringing Susan I put the kids for Christmas.
They are sending me up on a house searching mission so they're treating me very nicely and I keep saying to myself. I have a big fish on my life I have to grant him so I will except the job and have to accept all the consequences of moving away from here. Susan and I want to keep together |

Ok so now I have it all setup: 2 months free housing, house finding trip with Susan and kids, list of stuff to move and financial guidance etc all pending but lined up. I still need to submit some paperwork reqs but now it is all waiting. I tried selling boilers etc but since they are going to move stuff I dont see what to bother with.
Some bitter feelings about Susan but I shouldn't be churlish and by her not marryng me I have got this great opportunity and I get to go back to the Valley in style. Home after a mission to find lodging. I did visit Kanata for an afternoon actually twice and was surprised at the size of the city. It has grown. I found Kathy house and checked it out so maybe I should buy it if she wants to sell it.
Waiting around, eating healthy and getting packed slowly. I have 5 days before I go and kinda in a funky mood, sad and yet excited to be going. No doubt I will be very depressed once I leave this paradise here - despite my bitching at Susans bitching we do have a good household and healthy except for the occasional bitter fight yet I can forgive her that as we have a nice family. But I have to go out on my own and really it is not so bad as I do everything alone anyways; I cook and exercise alone so I need to get on with social ties to establish myself in a new city and new life.
I really loved Ottawa on the trip and was so proud of Canada and all around it. Very interested in how the capital is developed by buildings and changing the envirnoment around the Valley. Is the city divested fromt he country?

We only had one incident where Ada got her shoe stuck in the esclator but after much screaming only the shoe got mangled up/
MS moved me off their blog site but I have cloud office working nicely with Amos.It has versioning and I can work on from any computer with word. It actually uses Docx but I can edit it and it converts it online to new version.

So plane is telling your boss I hope it is going to be concerned considering tired I walk to work this morning. I left at noon and came home and then I had to walk from Chuckies house to the bus station so I am getting tired.
I had two glasses of wine on the plane for free
and I had one charge here at Ottawa international and I have a wine interfere here at the deli so pretty well tired.
There is nothing more depressing city at it. I remember the airport exhibition I saw with Susan at University of Chicago was very interesting because it was all about you and what kind of strange place they're they're launching at times the greatest drag of strange or existential way.
I must submit the iPod Touch is a better interface than the DB. I think it is because of the touch which seems to be a bit of pain on the BB
I have to catch the orange line into Chicago with Thailand at Midway.
Then I have to catch the South Shore line which will take me to do part where I have to home over a mile I could've driven there faster .

I drove all day well I want to work for a while but it was not not a nice drive I got three got off at 11 and then I went to appear at home 730 flight that was terrible to 15 hours there appears to be a problem with me living alone perhaps

Customs canada seized my Mayflower moving van on Friday morning and I have no furniture or cooking pots for my new apartment.
I have spent the whole weekend working in the office which is good because there was a terrible rain/sleet and finally 98 inches of snow storm last nite.
I spent last nite at my daughters while she was out dog sitting in Vanier. While talking on cell phone an RCMP pulled me over and made me sit for an hour
while he checked out ownership, drivers stuff and I had some herb in the back so I was sweating bullets.
I saw Tron wiht Amy and Natalia last nite but I would have been happier in my little bachelor pad,
Jesse is on a media fast right now. My children are sure chips of the old block.
Scared to go to my apartment due to ice but will go later. Had breakfast in Vanier below the Pussycat strip club.
Amy was not impresseded but Morgan suggtested it. |

I love my Playbook as I get great podcast on it. There is not too many apps on it yet but I think it will grow. Not sure of how Android apps will work on it but still I am not familiar with it. But it has a great camera and sound. |

First sail of year. Beautiful day, went across twice. Nice mooring with new bouy, very professional,
Eardley hills like triangles heaped upon themselves. Even had nice meeting.
Moore long way out based on chart and ggople earth. |

Now the sailing boat sits on the river, a way out there and I am worried about the chain to the bottom anchor letting go because I didn't put a lock washer on the lower point.
It went through a lot of rough water and also there is some current when water is lowered by running the hydro dams. Nice to know when that is let out. Is there a rythmn?
Must investigate this. |

Laid off. I knew something was in the works with mass layoffs and the docs department was hit bad. I am stumbling around ashamed to tell the world though she who I thought was going to slam me was pretty good with lots of support.
Time to change careers now and enjoy what might be an interesting summer and get back onto my writing again.
At least this works pretty good now and I can get my orders off shipped etc. Lots of little stuff to do right now to get this monster off my back. |

I have three quarters of the roof done with steel roofing. Know well and I did the whole job using letters and ropes.
I still have to do where the solar panels are so I am waiting for more help. But my knee is very sore and I am doing other work. I am plowing the fields up. I also planted Iris and daylilies and even some Spurrier Iris I have bought enough flooring to do the entire house. It is floating flooring and I have enough done in the entrance way to put the hot water tank. I really want to get the hot water tank running off the wood stove and then I can take hot showers. I have given up my apartment in Constance bay so this will be my home base. I hope to get a housesitting gig for the winter or if the room in the city sounds bad but I think it's okay |

Back at it and Sam is helping put ridge cap on. Not pretty but it is working. He shimmed out there with the saftey harness on once and now we will do the area where the solar panels are at least part of it.
beauiful sunny weekend.I got a lot of ground disced which was hard because of all the ruts and stuff and now let it settle down a bit to be beaten by rains. So once more before the snow flies.
I have to plant all the daylilies and ship one plant to Montreal then it will be put to sleep for the winter.
Working on the biz plan as well and at least I am learning what I can do with this stuff.
I think my earlier posting was done with dragon text.
Done but 1 sheet at very end. Solar panels are in place again right where they were so no big change except how to get up and get the snow off. Sam I am helped a lot and ridge cap is on though slightly dimpled. I am pretty proud I am I am.

I have been assisiduouly looking for work but my heart is saddened by the lack of response so I am thinking of retraining at the expense of the government but I am leery of the world and the layoff rejection that I have been having for quite awhile.
I hand onto t h eshred of the river for saftey and h iding from th eharseh glare of the world but a man needs money it seems so I must tryu again to find a berth somewhere.
i finally got the car transfer going and that was a real headache after my second time there and fear of going back to the usa where uncomforatable questions could be asked.
I am too old to be doing this yet I think it is is the best th ing I could bedoing though I miss my little family very much.

I had phone interview with Tribune front end developers for html5 coder so i don't know how it went but it went right for the RIM experience for sure. though I was a little offguard on some of the questions what about other issues and I am supposed to go home to live on the farm. maybe my life here continues some how? |

I am driving on the 401. Find him outside of London. I left Indiana this morning at 8:30. I have been there for several weeks.
I had a job interview with the Chicago Tribune which did not work out so good. I had two interviews. One was a phone and the other was in person. The problem was I miss to questions and I am taking some problem with that the problem was a question from Joe I demo which asked me what about dynamic and servile webpages which was really something I had covered with Jake Larry mobile and sensor touch they will let you have multipage layout columns based on the device so I think it was kind of a trick question. He had said that before that there were some buzzwords about HTML 5, and I thought that these adjectives he was describing words such a trick question so I declined to answer said I don't what they are.
But other than that I think the interviews went very well for |

The river a sunny day and the late autumn. This is November 21 and it has been very cold but sunny.
The solar system was working very well today I think I must've gained at least let's say six hours of sunlight and it was maxing out so that was pretty good. The sun is very far to the south so with a little Island here now it's just sinking and I think it was going to get only worse as the days grow shorter till the December 21 day. I think I should shut the house down about mid December and come back in March because that is the best for solar system and I don't think I I have enough wood for the winter.
I have been waiting to hear back from the entrepreneur program but I have not heard anything so I am getting to think perhaps I did not get that. But I got it or I didn't get it so if I got it that is good if I didn't get it then I had to do something else so it's not so bad, although I was very stressed out today because of that. I feel very up in the air right now and I need to find some work or so I think yet I am very well established here and think I can survive even if I get lonely but I can always go to the city if I get to Lonesome River was spectacular today for the Sunset.
